Swift to the Super Bowl!

1. Swift to the Super Bowl!

The Chiefs defense made big plays in big moments, and Travis Kelce showed why he’s the best Tight End in football. They were the underdogs but dominated, leaving no doubt that they deserve their place in Super Bowl 58. The only question is will Taylor be at the Super Bowl?

Thankfully, we have lovable sports nerd, Darren Rovell to break down the exact moment she can feasibly arrive in Las Vegas. For the NFL, this Super Bowl is a major win: the team with the most well-known stars and Taylor Swift? This should be the highest TV ratings in US sports history.

2. Lions Choke in Epic Fashion

The Lions went into halftime up 24-7, waving goodbye to 49ers fans, and were 30 minutes away from their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Then, the unthinkable happened. The Lions allowed 27 points unanswered in the second half, and after some questionable coaching calls to roll the dice instead of attempting field goals, found themselves down 34-24 with 3 minutes left. A late score was too little too late, and the 49ers advance to the Super Bowl. The Niners and Chiefs face off Sunday February 11th.

3. Luka Scores 73 Points in One Game!

Just days after Embiid’s 70 point game, Luka Doncic does him one better. Luka’s statline was 73 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a win over the Hawks, the team that originally drafted him. This is the fourth most points scored in a game in NBA history.

4. The Magic of England’s FA Cup

The FA Cup in England allows any team to enter. With each round, new teams enter the tournament from progressively better leagues. It’s feasible for a pub team to win enough games to play against Manchester United. The Cinderella story this season is Maidstone United, a sixth division club who’s upset over Ipswich Town has placed them in the Round of 16. Maidstone is a semi-professional club, with players who work a second job and a stadium with 800 seats. Yet they are one of the last 16 teams in England’s most historic tournament. Maidstone face the winner of 2nd division sides Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday.

5. Are the Texas Longhorns the Softest University in America?

“Horns Down” is a gesture to mock the Longhorn hand sign, and, for some reason, Texas folks go absolutely ballistic against it being used. First, when the athletic program lobbied the Big 12 conference to make the hand sign a 15 yard penalty in 2019, and more recently when Texas Basketball Coach Rodney Terry was irate with opposing players who threw up the horns down after upsetting Texas. This weekend, BYU fans, making fun of Terry, spelled horns down on t-shirts and sat in the front row. They were promptly told to remove the shirts or leave the game.

Our opinion? Soft. Texas is going into the SEC next year, where famously, Georgia fans bark at people and Alabama fans poison trees. You think they’re not going to pummel Texas with horns down every week? Hope they acquire thicker skin in the next 6 months.

Imagine thinking you’re safe to take a pee, and… no
