The Quirkiest Super Bowl Bets You Never Knew Existed

Hi, there! You signed up for or were referred to The Fastbreakk, AND planted a tree in a developing nation by doing so! 🌲 Thanks again — now, on to the sports!

1. The American Dream: Super Bowl Prop Bets

The best part of the Super Bowl is never the game, or the commercials, or even the party: it’s watching your degenerate friend become irate as the National Anthem singer ends her note at 86 seconds when they (he, it’s always a man throwing stuff and carrying on) bet over 87.

For those who have not shared in the pleasure, the Super Bowl offers gambling odds on just about everything, from the color of Gatorade poured on the coach, to the number of outfit changes in the halftime performance. Here are our top 5 favorites for Sunday’s game:

  1. Number of songs Usher will perform at halftime (over/under 8.5)

  2. Taylor Swift’s Primary color of top (red is the massive favorite, but great value on white)

  3. Total time Taylor will be on TV (over/under 40.5 seconds, can’t wait to have a stopwatch out)

  4. Will the power go out? (Put a fortune on it, destroy the power grid, unlimited money glitch)

  5. Coin toss outcome (One book is giving -105, so people are betting a literal coin flip at less than 50/50 odds to win — insanity)

2. World Cup Final is Coming to New York New Jersey

The World Cup Final is a historic event, held in beautiful stadiums from Rio to Berlin to Buenos Aires to Paris. Now that storied history will take us to a massive parking complex located in East Rutherford, NJ: MetLife Stadium, the home of the New York Giants and Jets, which boasts the most injury prone playing surface in the NFL.

We joke — the idea of a New York City World Cup Final is incredible. With fans traveling from all over the world to see the beautiful game at the epicenter of American culture. Other locations were also announced this week, by none other than Kim Kardashian, with the USA to start its campaign in Los Angeles, and the tournament Semifinals slated to take place in Dallas and Atlanta.

3. Duke “Too Small” to Handle UNC

The Scoop: College Basketball’s best rivalry added another addition, with #3 UNC landing a major blow, 93-84 over #7 Duke. UNC has a team full of older players. Their starting 5 has an average age of 22, which happens to be the age of the oldest Duke starter. On the court, Carolina’s maturity showed up as they were the more physically and mentally tough team, overpowering their rivals in key moments.

The key storyline of the game was if Duke’s 7’0 Kyle Filipowski could guard 6’11 UNC star Armando Bacot. Well, Mondo put up 25 points, 10 rebounds, and the UNC team all let “Flip” know that he’s too small. As tradition, the UNC students rushed Franklin Street and had a massive traffic-stopping party.

4. F1 GOAT Switches Teams

Lewis Hamilton, winner of seven F1 World Championships, announced that he is parting ways with Mercedes, the team he has driven with since the 2013 season. Hamilton will be heading to Ferrari for the 2025 season, making the upcoming 2024 season his last dance with Mercedes, and ousting Carlos Sainz as one of Ferrari’s two drivers. For our non-F1 fans, this is like Tom Brady deciding he’s won enough Super Bowls in New England and randomly joining the Bucs or something. Oh wait…

5. She’s Got Next: 51 Points for Freshman Juju Watkins

Only 4 players on USC recorded a single point in a road trip to #4 Stanford. Luckily for the Trojans, one of those players is freshman phenom Juju Watkins, who scored FIFTY ONE points, leading her team to a 67-58 win. Stanford double-teamed her, tried to deny her from getting the ball, and harassed her up and down the court, but nothing worked. She simply could not miss. The home crowd was in silent awe, as the 18-year-old made shot after shot.

Women’s basketball is growing in popularity, led by stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. With both set to go to the WNBA next year, fans are looking for the next top talent, and Juju is her. Remember her name, she’s only going to keep getting better
